The Challenge
For many households, a car is both one of their most valuable assets and one of their largest financial commitments.
Drivers can see what their vehicle is worth, monitor outstanding finance and keep track of MOT, tax, insurance and maintenance dates. But that information provides little indication of the mechanical issues and repair costs that may emerge as the vehicle ages.
A car may appear affordable based on its monthly finance payment and current value, while still carrying significant future repair exposure.
Check.co.uk wanted to explore whether predictive vehicle health intelligence could give My Vehicle users a more complete understanding of the true financial implications of ownership.
The MotorIQ Approach
MotorIQ models how vehicle risk develops across makes, models, engines and mileage bands.
Rather than relying solely on the history of an individual vehicle, MotorIQ analyses patterns across comparable vehicles to identify:
- common model specific faults
- mileage related risk windows
- indicative repair costs
- emerging ownership risks
- the relative health of the vehicle at its current mileage
The intelligence is generated automatically from the vehicle’s registration, mileage and transmission.
The Solution
MotorIQ’s predictive vehicle intelligence is being integrated directly into Check.co.uk’s My Vehicle platform through an API.
Users will receive:
- a MotorIQ Vehicle Health Score
- clear definitions explaining the assessment
These insights will sit alongside the vehicle information already available through My Vehicle, including current valuations, MOT and tax status, insurance and maintenance reminders, finance information and potential refinancing opportunities.
The result is a more complete view of the vehicle - not only what it is worth and what may still be owed on it, but what it may cost to maintain as it ages.
Why It Matters
Vehicle affordability is about more than the monthly finance payment.
Depreciation, insurance, tax, servicing and unexpected repairs all affect the true cost of ownership. Yet potential mechanical exposure is rarely visible within the financial tools consumers use to manage their cars.
By bringing vehicle value, finance and predictive health intelligence together, Check.co.uk can help users see potential costs earlier and make better-informed decisions about whether to keep, refinance, part exchange or replace their vehicle.
The Outcome
The integration demonstrates how MotorIQ intelligence can enhance an established consumer platform without requiring users to leave the existing customer journey or obtain a separate vehicle report.
For Check.co.uk, it adds a forward looking dimension to My Vehicle and extends the platform’s role from financial monitoring into broader vehicle wellbeing.
For users, it provides a clearer understanding of one of their largest financial commitments, helping them plan for potential maintenance and repair costs before those costs become unexpected bills.
The initial trial will allow Check.co.uk and MotorIQ to assess customer engagement, refine the experience and evaluate the opportunity for a longer-term commercial rollout.
Beyond Financial Wellbeing
The same modelling framework used within Check.co.uk My Vehicle can be embedded into:
- credit and financial wellbeing platforms
- vehicle finance customer portals
- refinancing journeys
- vehicle valuation products
- ownership and maintenance applications
- insurer and warranty platforms
- dealer and marketplace customer accounts
Check.co.uk demonstrates how MotorIQ’s predictive vehicle intelligence can sit alongside financial, valuation and ownership data to give consumers a more complete understanding of their vehicle, what it is worth today, what they owe on it and what ownership may involve next.
